The Engineering Council Certificate
You will qualify for the award of the Engineering Council Certificate when you successfully pass six of the available units. Four of the six units are compulsory, but you may choose the remaining two from a list of options.
If you wish to take units within the group of syllabuses available for the Engineering Council Certificate you should have passed two "A" levels (or their equivalent in science subjects). You will need to be registered as a candidate for which the Engineering Council Examinations at City & Guilds makes a small charge to all applicants.
- Registration to the Certificate award is through possession of 2 "A" levels in science subjects, or their equivalent as may be agreed by Engineering Council Examinations at City & Guilds.
- Candidates are not barred from taking the maximum number of units required in one sitting, although they would normally be advised not to attempt more than three units simultaneously.
- Candidates may repeat units as many times as they wish, but this will be known to the professional engineering institution and in some circumstances may count against an application for professional registration. It will not, however, count against successful completion of the Certificate requirements.
- Institutions may, in certain circumstances, impose time constraints on the time taken to complete the Certificate.
- Candidates are required to pass all four of the compulsory units and two more units from the available choices in order to qualify for the Engineering Council Certificate.
